Joan Simmons

Joan Marilyn Simmons, 80, of Sawyer passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at her home.

There are no formal services at this time and the family will be remembering her privately.
As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be give to the Michigan Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 21311 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, MI 48076.

Joan was born Wednesday, December 9, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Richard Laurence and Florence Louise (Wahlgren) Olson. Joan was an incredible conversationalist and ministered to a host of people over all the years that multiple sclerosis affected her life. Her faith was infectious; always trying to be honest and true. She loved her family and always prayed for her community of friends.

Joan is survived by her daughter: Leslie Simmons; grandchildren: Alescha (Jonathan) Moody, DeAnna McCain, Erin McCain; great grandchildren: Matthew and Hayden Moody; her sister: Lois Carmean; and her brother: Richard (Leslie) Olson.

Joan was also preceded in death by her husband Carlyle (Carl) Clinton Simmons on December 24, 1986.
