BRIDGMAN - Joan Helen Hanover, 84, of Bridgman, passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Mother’s Day weekend 2015. A private family committal will be in Graceland Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Joan was born August 7, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late James Patrick and Sarah (Beerman) Gilfoyle. Joan worked in the Berrien County Records Storage Department for many decades. Her gift was care giving. Joan’s love of people was reflected by the fact that she had an abundance of friends.

Survivors include her children - David (Mary) Hanover of South Bend, IN, Eugene Brother Giles Hanover of Bridgman, Charles (Diane) Hanover of Los Angeles, CA, Tim Hanover of Houston, TX, Don Hanover of Cambridge, MA; and her special friend - Laurene Marchewka of Niles; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Joan was also preceded in death by her daughter Sara Hanover in September of 2014, her brother James and her sisters Margaret and Sara.
