Jimmie Frank Shelby, 77, of Benton Harbor passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his home in the care of his family.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM on Friday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Jimmie was born on July 22, 1944 in Savannah, Tennessee, the son of the late William and Annie (Wolfe) Shelby. In 1978, he married Betty Jean Grant and she preceded him in death in December 2020. In 1962, he joined the United States Navy, he retired from the United States Navy in 1996. Following his active service, he worked for Lake Michigan College for 25 years, retiring in 2005. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music, and most importantly, taking care of his family.
Survivors include his children: Jim Shelby, Alvin (Michelle) Cowgill, Allen (Dawn) Cowgill, April White, Anne (Dan) Turbyfill; many grandchildren and great grandchildren including: Victoria (Will) Woerdehoff, Michelle (Kenneth) Bowling, Adrianna (Heladio) Torres, Nithaniel Ramirez, Carmen Segundo, and James Lewis; and a brother: Carl Shelby.
Jimmie was preceded in death by a great grandson: Christian Zamora; and an infant sister.
