Jeanne Powers, born 1944 passed away 2024 at age 79.
A funeral service to be announced later and posted on Jeanne’s Facebook page, to be broadcast in some form on social media. Jeanne was born Dec. 23, 1944, in Benton Harbor Michigan to her mother and father who preceded her in death, Maynard and Helen (Enders), brothers: David and Lynn. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Rhonda (Laureys) and Buzz (David), Denise (Callahan), Brian and Patrick.
She celebrated life in later years with her dedication to God and spending time being involved in church activities, even being baptized as an adult last July. Jeanne graduated from Benton Harbor High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, while playing for the women’s varsity basketball team, and a master’s degree from Western Michigan University.
Jeanne was employed at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources for her entire career, working mostly in Parks and Recreation until her retirement. She was an avid cyclist where she participated in trips all over the U.S. including cycling from Los Angeles to Boston for Cystic Fibrosis. Earlier in life she became a Triathlete and competed in many events for decades. She donated time and funding during her entire life to youth organizations. She studied family genealogies and completed missing details to add to her family history. Jeanne enjoyed spending time with family and friends and hoped to make the world a little bit better before her time was over.
