Jean Adeline Ferney passed away suddenly on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the Spectrum Health Lakeland, St. Joseph from complications of diabetes and heart disease.
A memorial service will be held 12 Noon Friday, July 1, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 Church Street, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 11 – 12 Noon on Friday, prior to the service at the church. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place. Jean was born in Benton Harbor on August 16, 1944 daughter of the late Arthur and Adeline (Zilke) Kaeding. Jean graduated from Bridgman High School in 1962. After graduation and the death of her mother, Jean became the caretaker of her family. Jean fell in love with and married Charles Ferney in 1979. They celebrated 37 years of marriage.
Jean is survived by her siblings Karl (Carol) Kaeding, William (Jan) Kaeding and Wilhelmina (Deb) Kaeding, nephews and nieces Arthur (Amy) Kaeding, Jason (Lisa) Kaeding, William (Diana) Kaeding, Robert Kaeding and Mimi (Bill) Hegedus. Step children Charles (Sharon) Ferney, Kathy (Ferney) Kocsis, along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces, great nephews and many Zilke and Strefling cousins.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband Charles Ferney, her brother Arthur Kaeding and sister-in-law Centennial “Penny” Kaeding and her step daughter Debra Ferney and step son Scott Ferney.
Jean loved her family and friends deeply and was always there when they needed her. Jean was a faithful and God-fearing individual with an amazing sense of humor and devotion to family and friends. Jean will be missed deeply by many.
