Jay Allen Detterbeck, 86, of Bridgman passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St.Joseph.
Funeral Services will be held 11AM Monday, October 1, 2018 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 N. Church, Bridgman, with Reverend Edward A. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 10 - 11 AM prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Country Manor Care Center, 11241 California Road, Bridgman, MI 49106 or Immanuel Lutheran Church, PO Box 26, Bridgman. Jay was born Sunday, February 28, 1932 in Chicago the son of the late Joe and Katherine (Sliter) Detterbeck. Following the death of his mother, he was raised by Leroy and Genieve Fox. He married Marie Anna Loraff and she preceded him in death January 23, 2018. Jay served in the United States Army as an Officer’s cook from 1951 - 1971 and was a member of the Bridgman American Legion Post 331. Upon his retirement from the Army, Jay worked for Pebblewood Country Club.
Survivors include his step-daughter: Isla Case; grandchildren: Gary (Kim) Case, Chad (Heather) Case, Nicole Walker; thirteen great grandchildren; and many cousins and extended family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The Boyd Chapel of Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.
