Jane Marie Krueger

Jane Marie Krueger, 76, of Bridgman passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Corewell Health South, St. Joseph.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Ave., Baroda, MI 49101 with Rev. Kenneth Babcock officiating. Friends may meet with the family on Thursday at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.

Jane was born on January 27, 1948 in St. Joseph the daughter of the late Bernard and Mabel (Ehlert) Sommers. She attended the Landon School until the 3rd grade, when she transferred to New Troy Schools where she was 1st clarinet player in band. Jane also could play the piano and organ and was a baton twirler majorette for the New Troy High Marching Trojans. After graduating in 1966, she attended Western Michigan University to pursue her degree in Elementary Education. After obtaining her BA in Elementary Education, she began teaching at New Troy Elementary School where she taught for over 30 years. During that time she also obtained a Master’s Degree in Reading plus 30 hours more. 

Jane was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Baroda. On July 4, 1970 she married Charles Krueger. Jane also played the church organ and piano, along with helping with the church social hour. Plus she was a member of the first St. John’s Lutheran Church softball league.

Jane was a life long member of the Berrien County 4-H Youth Program, as a member and as 4-H Youth Leader in cats and photography, and recently receiving her 40 year pin as a 4-H Leader. She also was a life time exhibitor at the Berrien County Youth Fair from 5-20. She then became a volunteer at the fair foods for a few years and helped out in the 4-H booth. She was currently active on the Flower Barn Committee at the Berrien County Youth Fair. Jane was also a volunteer usher at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center since 1995.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Charles; daughter, Heidi Krueger; brother, Gary (Carolyn) Sommers; sisters-in-law: Rita (Mike) Stachowiak, Kathryn (Bob) Clemons, and Tina (Paul) Keller; brother-in-law, David Durlin; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Jane was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Mary Durlin.

 Arrangements are entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman.
