James Richard Stine, Sr., 87, of Bridgman passed away peacefully in St. Joseph on November 12, 2021.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on November 19, 2021 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman, with Reverend Ed Meyer, officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM at the funeral home, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Jim was born on February 9, 1934 in Freeport, IL, the son of the late William and Lorretta (Dittmar) Stine. On June 18, 1954 he married his life-long love, Jeanette Myers. Jim was a residential home builder, both in Michigan and Florida, and was a former member of the Bridgman Fire Department and the Lake Township Ambulance Service. Jim was an avid pilot and a long-time saxophone player in the Stine Brothers Polka Band. He enjoyed golfing and cooking at the American Legion fish fry for many years.
Survivors include his wife: Jeanette; sons: James (Peggy) Stine, and John (Sharon) Stine; grandchildren: Tricia (Rich) Smith, Jeffry (Corrine Fleming) Stine, Eric (Jessica) Stine, and Christi Stine; great-grandchildren: Braeden, Gavin, and Owen Smith. Brothers; Michael (Lanene Webster) Stine, Russell (Sally) Stine, and Sherry (Elmer) Darnell; sister-in-laws: Florence and Norma Stine; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was also preceded in death by his brothers: Bert Stine and Jack Stine; and sister: Peg Krieger; and brother-in-law: Darwin Krieger.
