Huldina Mary Schmaltz (Miller) Gnodtke, 103 of Bridgman passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center, St. Joseph, where she had been a resident for 8 ½ years and was cared for by a host of wonderful people.

A celebration of her life will be held 10 AM Monday, January 4 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendora with Rev. Thomas R. Brazinsky officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 2-4 PM Sunday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to the Lutheran Hour or the Altar Guild of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendora.

Mrs. Gnodtke was born April 15, 1906 in Baroda the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Girschewski) Schmaltz. On October 26, 1932 she married Carl F. Miller and he died in 1950. They had two daughters – Marilyn (Miller) Krieger and Bonnie Miller. On May 16, 1955 she married Carl “Pete” Gnodtke and he died in 1985. Huldina was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Glendora and served her Lord on many committees including the Ladies League, the Altar Guild, the Flower Committee, and the Church Building Committee.

She will be greatly missed by her two daughters – Marilyn Krieger and Bonnie Miller both of Bridgman; grandchildren – Mark (Jame) Krieger, Sheila (Timothy) Lodge, and John (Aimee) Krieger; great grandchildren – Anna, Peter, Nolania and Gavin Krieger, Amanda and Christopher Lodge; a sister-in-law, Mabel Schmaltz; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Elmer Froehlich.

Huldina was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry Allen Krieger; two sisters – Susan and Rose; and eight brothers – Fred, William, August, Rhine, Julius, Edward, Henry, and Adolph.
