Howard Fredrick Runser

Howard F. Runser, 89 “Powerhouse Fred”, peacefully passed on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at Whitcomb Senior Living Tower in St. Joseph, Michigan. He was born September 7, 1935 in Ada, Ohio to the late Jonathon Oscar and Georgianna Julia Runser.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman, MI 49106. Friends may meet with the family from 11 AM-12 Noon on Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Howard graduated from Ada High School, Class of 1953. Following graduation, he attended The Ohio State University, served in the U.S. Navy and met and married his sweetheart, Marjorie Fitzpatrick, on August 1, 1956. They have enjoyed life together for the past 68 years.

Howard moved to Bridgman, Michigan in 1969 to work for AEP at the Cook Nuclear Plant as an operator. He retired in 1996 as Operations Supervisor. He followed his father’s footsteps as a life-long member of the Masons organization.

In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by his sons: Jeffrey and wife Deborah, Andrew and wife Michelle. He has five loving grandchildren: Lukas Runser, Matthew Runser, Samantha Runser, Jamie Runser-Sullivan (Scott Sullivan), and Brenton Runser; two great grandchildren: Sean and Hailey Sullivan. He also has two step grandchildren: Cuyler (Sydney) Anderson and great grandson Cuyler II, and Jarret (Jourdan) Anderson and great grandchildren: Jensen and Jarret II. He is survived by many nieces and nephews on the Fitzpatrick side of the family.
