Henry Gast

Henry F. Gast, 81, of Bridgman, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2009 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, March 31 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Reverend Gerald Schroer officiating. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Friends may meet with the family from 5-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.

Henry was born May 17, 1927 in Baroda to the late Henry and Anna (Baslau) Gast. He served in the US Army. On February 19, 1951 he married the former Bernice Betty Dehring and she preceded him in death on May 15, 1993. Henry worked for Bendix Corp. until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville.

Survivors include his son, Dana Gast of Bridgman; one granddaughter, Jessica (Matthew Cross) Gast of Elkhart, Indiana; two brothers – Walt Gast of New Mexico and Wilbur (MaryAnn) Schultz of Baroda; two sisters – Helen Schiller of Bitely, Michigan and Thelma Darda of Sawyer; and a special friend: Dorothy Zielke of Bridgman.

Henry was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Gast, in 1974; and a brother, Norman Schultz.
