Harold Hettinger

Harold Lee Hettinger, 86, of Benton Harbor passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home, surrounded by family.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home.

Harold was born February 27, 1926 in Benton Harbor, MI, the son of Henry and Blanche (Harness) Hettinger. He was a WWII Navy veteran having served in the Pacific Campaign. Harry married Hazel Walker and they shared over 47 years until her death in 1996. He loved his family and the outdoors, especially fishing. Harry also enjoyed oil painting nature scenes. He took up the game of golf at the age of 70.

Survivors include his children - Penny (Will) Harvey of Clarksville, TN, Harry (Clara) Hettinger of Seattle, WA, Peggy (Tom) Lippert of Baroda, MI; grandchildren - Jared Lippert, Tana (Brice) Smith, Amy Gerlach, Sarah Crowell, Laura (Jason) McGehee, Michael (Holly) Lippert; great grandchildren - Grant, Walker, Ella, Adelyn & Maggie Smith, Emery Gerlach, Alaina & Kaitlyn Crowell, Cydnie, Macey & Whitney McGehee, Wyatt Lippert; brother Jim Hettinger.

Harold was preceded in death by his brother Robert and sister Ethel Strunk.
