Giles Baird Baker, Jr., 77, of Bridgman passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, August 29 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Rev. Kendall Holder officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 PM on Thursday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Baroda Church of God Building Fund.
Mr. Baker was born December 29, 1930 in Batesville, Arkansas the son of the late Giles and Tennie (Hennessee) Baker. On July 21, 1951 he married the former Wilma West. Giles was a member of Baroda Church of God. He retired from Ball Rubber in 1978 after 28 years and had owned and operated Baker Lawn Mower Service for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Wilma; five children – Michael (Amy) Baker of Bridgman, Jim (Linda) Baker of Buchanan, Char (Rick) Langston of Bridgman, David (Candy) Baker of Stevensville, and Dale (Debra) Baker of Bridgman; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; four brothers – Frank Baker of Indianapolis, Everett (Ettabelle) Baker of Benton Harbor, Ed Baker of Arkansas, and Winford Baker of Georgia; two sisters – Fay Weaver and Myrtle Marquet both of Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Giles was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
