Geraldine Ella Versaw

Geraldine Ella Versaw of Three Oaks passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at The Willows in St. Joseph.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 28 W. Ash St., Three Oaks, MI 49128. Friends may meet with the family from 5-7 PM on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Pike Funeral and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman, MI 49106. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Three Oaks. Memorial contributions may be given to the family for the Shelly Taylor Medical Fund. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.

Geraldine was born to Gerard Diorio and Ella Temmel on July 19, 1935 and grew up in the south side of Chicago. She later moved to New Carlisle, IN and married Keith Miller. Together they raised two daughters, Barbara Jo and Sharrel Lee, until he passed away at the young age of 24. She later met Richard Versaw in 1971, where they married and built their forever home in Three Oaks. Together they took their family on many adventures and loved to go all out to make memorable experiences that are still very much talked about and cherished today. Gerry loved to be around people and could talk to anyone. She started her work at Bendix Woods but later became the secretary to the superintendent at River Valley, where she worked for 30 years, through five superintendents. Retirement did not slow her down, and she began ushering at Lake Michigan College. Her deep love of Notre Dame then led her to become an usher there, and she loved having her family come with her to enjoy games. She found great joy in spending time with her family both at home and by traveling, maintaining her yard, and eating ice cream cones. She was very active in her church, where she was a member of the parish council and a eucharistic minister.

She is survived by her children: Barbara (Greg) Reese and Sharrel (Paul) Bailey, her sister, Beverly (Ronald) Szczypiorski; her grandchildren: Renae (Joel) Sells, Shelly (Todd) Taylor, and very special niece and nephew, Lori (Steve Taylor) Szczypiorski and Nicholas (Natalie) Szczypiorski. She is also the proud great grandmother of five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerry was full of life, loved her family deeply, and her smile will be so greatly missed.
