Gerald "Gerry" William Essig

Gerald “Gerry” William Essig, 84, of St. Joseph passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Hanson Hospice Center.

A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at Lincoln Township Cemetery, 5055 St Joseph Ave, Stevensville, MI 49127. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.

Gerry was born on July 17, 1938 in St. Joseph, the son of the late Milton and Edith (Hoge) Essig. Gerry worked as a quality control technician at Benton Harbor Screw Company for many years. Gerry loved to garden; he was very proud of his vegetables and liked to share them with everyone. Gerry also enjoyed fishing and in his younger years, he liked to hunt.

Survivors include his siblings: Roger Hoge, Darlene (Edward) Odachowski, Diana (Ron) Ott, and M. Randy (Cynthia) Essig; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerry was also preceded in death by his mother: Anna (Tabbert) Essig and sister-in-law: Judy Hoge.
