Gary Lynn Gunkel, 51, of Bridgman passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Thursday, August 11, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman with Rev. Jon Bendewald officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Wednesday from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to the Berrien County Cancer Service.

Gary was born July 30, 1960 in St. Joseph the son of the late Marlin and Dorothy (Layman) Gunkel. On Dec. 1, 2001 he married MarieLyn Wetzel. He worked for Wollin Products, All Star Plastics and most recently was a machine operator at Vickers Engineering in New Troy. Gary enjoyed fishing but his passion was playing the drums.

Survivors include his wife - Marie of Bridgman and her children, Ray Turner of Stevensville and Nikki (Robert) Blumka of Buchanan; step grandchildren - Tara Baker and Tiffany Turner; three sisters - Karen (John) Heckert of Stevensville, Diana (John) Thomas of Cary, IL and Julie (Ron) Burkett of Stevensville; a sister-in-law - Colleen Gunkel of Stevensville; his mother-in-law - Audrey Myers of Bridgman and also eleven nieces and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Gunkel in 2010
