Frederick Hillman

Frederick William Hillman, 61, of Bridgman, passed away late Sunday night, March 9, 2008.

Fred was born on December 15, 1946 in LaPorte, Indiana the son of the late Amy and Naomi (Murray) Hillman.

Fred grew up and raised his family in New Buffalo. He was deeply committed to his country and his community. He enlisted in the Army and completed two tours in the Vietnam War. He rose to the rank of E-5 and received many honors and commendations, including two Purple Hearts.

Fred then returned to New Buffalo. He is best remembered as a Fireman and loving father to his five children.

Fred's final home was in Bridgman where he made many close friends. He will be missed by all.

Survived By four children – Nicole & Peter Hartman of Atlanta, Georgia, Kyle & Caryn Hillman of Chicago, Brock Hillman of Ann Arbor, and Ryan Hillman of Georgetown, Kentucky; two granddaughters – Mya and Kayli; special friends – Ariel, Lynn, Sarah, and Savannah; a brother, Edmund Hillman of New Buffalo; and a nephew, Ed Hillman, Jr. of Ann Arbor. Preceded in Death By a daughter, Heather Hillman, in 2005.
