Evelyn Alice (Kirkpatrick) Lutz, 90, of Stevensville, passed away peacefully Monday, July 6, 2015 at West Woods of Bridgman with her family at her bedside.
Cremation has taken place and by her request there will be no services. Memorials can be made to Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085 or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2673 W. John Beers Road, Stevensville, MI 49127.
Evelyn was born on August 4, 1924 the daughter of John and Lucretia (DeWitt) Kirkpatrick in Muskegon, Michigan. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1942 and married Kenneth J. Lutz on September 28, 1943. Evelyn was employed at Muskegon Public Schools from 1973 - 1989 as a clerk at Glenside School. She enjoyed working cross word puzzles and cross stitching, before her eyesight failed. Evelyn attended Cloverville Baptist Church in Muskegon and was visited by pastors from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville. Her Christian faith, family, and friends were her staples in the earthly life.
Evelyn is survived by two sons: David Lutz of Rothbury, MI, Michael Lutz of Oceanside, CA; daughter: Kathy (Roger) Schermer of Stevensville, MI; daughter-in-law: Patricia Lutz of Smyrna, TN; six grandchildren: Gina (Brian) Pate of Smyrna, TN, Kenneth (Lisa) Lutz of Antioch, TN, Jeffrey (Diane) Lutz of Muskegon, MI, Melissa Robles of Omaha, NE, Brandy (Phillip) Kennedy of Coloma, MI, Shane Robbins of Benton Harbor, MI; ten great grandchildren: Tanner and Cooper Pate, Blake and Mahaleigh Lutz, Amanda Lutz, Jordan, Justine and Joshua Lutz, Matthew “Littleman” and Ashley “Missygirl” Kennedy; two great great grandchildren: Thomas and Robert Koziel of Omaha, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Kenneth; son: Richard Lutz; four brothers: John, Wayne, William, and Richard Kirkpatrick; and two sisters: Molly Briggs and Dawn Andrew.
