Erna Schaffrinski

Erna Schaffrinski, 94, of Bridgman passed away peacefully on January 3, 2023 at West Woods of Bridgman.

Cremation has taken place and at this time, the family will be remembering her privately. Erna was born on April 28, 1928 in Poland, the daughter of the late Gottlieb and Katherine (Reinhardt) Guse. On June 30, 1951, she married John Schaffrinski and he preceded her in death in 2015. Erna was a long-time member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She liked to stay busy and enjoyed quilting, sewing, collecting recipes, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Erna also enjoyed participating in Relay For Life with her husband, John.

Survivors include her children: Karin (Patrick) Duensing and Heidi (Michael) Deja; grandchildren: Hilary (Jerry) Kalin, Kelly (Drew) Wilson, Emily Deja, Andrew (Hannah) Deja, Ellen (Daniel) Napier; great grandchildren: Jacey, Corbin, Hadley, Isabella, Weston, Addie, Abel, and Daphne; a brother: Ewald (Christal) Guse; and a sister-in-law: Erika Guse.

Erna was also preceded in death by three siblings: Gottfried Guse, Ludwig Guse, and Olga Linke.
