Elsie Maranto

Elsie Minnie Maranto, 92, of Bridgman passed away on Monday, October 13, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Noblesville, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held 3 PM Friday, October 17 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bridgman with Pastor Jon Bendewald officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family at church from 2 PM until the time of the service on Friday. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member.

Mrs. Maranto was born August 5, 1916 in Bridgman, the youngest child of the late Herman and Minnie (Sorget) Gast. In 1938 she wed Vincent Maranto, and was happily married to him for the next 63 years until his death on September 5, 2001.

She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Margo Wheeler of Noblesville, Indiana; three grandchildren – Kristin Webber, Tracy Cochran, and Michael Wheeler; eight great grandchildren – Mackenze Webber, Alex Webber, Cody Cochran, Chase Cochran, Conner Cochran, Cooper Cochran, Ryan Elizabeth Wheeler, and Reese Nichole Wheeler.

Elsie was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters – Edith Ott, William Gast, Charles Gast, Frank Gast, Lydia Zielke, and Margaret Forraht.
