Else was born on September 8, 1939, in Poland, the daughter of the late Johann and Helene Hansch. In 1952, the family left their home in Hanover, Germany and immigrated to the United States.
Family meant so much to Else. From childhood through adulthood she was a source of inspiration to her children. She was the person you could turn to, confide in and look to for help when needed. When you were scared, she soothed you. When you achieved success, she cheered louder than anyone. She looked forward to every holiday and birthday celebration because it meant she would be surrounded by her family. Her German potato salad was widely requested and the first bowl to be emptied at a potluck. Her kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. She never met a stranger. Losing her leaves an ache in our hearts, but also inspiration to live up to her beautiful example.
When Else was just 16 years old, she left her family to take a job in Chicago as a Nanny. She worked at many local nursing homes and had a long career at Jordan’s Nursing Home. To her, her greatest impact was as a daycare provider where she loved children as her own.
Else is survived by her children; Robert (Michelle) Mastin and Heidi (Brian) Neiman; grandchildren: Amanda Mastin, Tyler Neiman, and Eric (Jessica) Neiman; great grandchildren: Zachary Gutierrez, Dean Shipman, George Neiman; and Brother; Erich Hansch; and many nieces and nephews. She was a special Omi to Cassie (Justin) Henderson, Jessica Johnson, Annie Johnson, Gavin Henderson, Rachel Swords, Madisyn Canfield, and Arya Stockwell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Heinz Reinhardt; brother, Bruno Hansch; and sister, Leni Anstadt.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Pike Funeral and Cremation Service, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman.
