Elmer Rudolph Gorske, 86, of Bridgman passed away on Monday, September 21, 2009 at his home in the care of his family and a special friend, Amy.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Friday, September 25, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman with Rev. Terrill Schneider officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 5-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home.

Elmer was born May 5, 1923 in Ripon, Wisconsin the son of the late Heinrich and Alberta (Kussmaul) Gorske. He served in the US Army during WWII. On October 24, 1953 he married the former Barbara Udvardy. Elmer retired from Allied Signal in St. Joseph in 1985. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Bridgman.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara; six children – Cheryl Gorske of Colorado, Gary Gorske of Bridgman, Randy (Janette) Gorske of Sawyer, Laurie Kempton of Florida, George Gorske of Florida, and Alicia (David) Coard of St. Joseph; ten grandchildren – Julieane, John, Alicia, Leah, Danielle, Jacob, Jennifer, Alyson, Lacey, and Summer; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Barbott of Stevensville.

Elmer was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters.
