Elizabeth Helen Schlender, 95, of Sawyer passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Lakeland Continuing Care Center in St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM, Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5791 Sawyer Road, Sawyer with Reverend Roberto Becerra officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks. Friends may meet with the family from 6 - 8 PM Tuesday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.

Elizabeth was born May 2, 1917 in Buchanan, Michigan the daughter of the late Edward and Mathilda (Priebe) Goodline, Sr. She married Erwin Schlender on November 30, 1938 in South Bend, Indiana and settled on their farm in Sawyer working together, side by side, for 60 years until Erwin’s death on February 18, 1998. Elizabeth loved her flowers and enjoyed sharing that love with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children - Sharon Frost of Sawyer, Carol (Dale) Anderson of Granger, Indiana, Sandy (Al Blair) Norem of Baroda, Carol (Ron) Hambleton of St. Joseph, Garrett (Deloris) Schlender of Buchanan, Donald (Shirley) Schlender of McDonald, Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and sister Phyllis Hildebrandt of Sawyer.

Elizabeth was also preceded in death by a son - Roger Schlender in February of 1998; brothers Otto, Henry and Edward Jr. Goodline.
