Edna Geik

Edna Gertrude Geik, 95, of Kalamazoo, formerly of New Troy, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Sojourners House in Kalamazoo.

Funeral Services will be held 1 PM Monday, November 20, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5791 Sawyer Rd., Sawyer with the Reverend Randy D. Lett officiating. Friends may meet with the family from noon until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in New Troy Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Sawyer or the Lutheran Church of the Savior, Kalamazoo.

Edna was born August 25, 1922 in Galien the daughter of the late Adolph and Julia Strefling. She was married to Edward Geik in 1941; he preceded her in death in 2004. They lived in New Troy for many years with their three children. Edna was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sawyer where she was active in the Ladies Aid Society, Parent Teachers League and church choir. She was employed at Gerber in Three Oaks and Zenith Corporation in St. Joseph before retirement. After retirement they spent their winter months in Florida. Edna enjoyed reading, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and gardening.

Survivors include her children: Gerald (Iris) Geik, Linda (George) Schuch, Wayne (Nancy) Geik; six grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

Edna was also preceded in death by her brothers: William, Otto, Henry, Julius, Alfred, Albert, Clarence, and Robert Strefling; and sisters: Margaret Stanage and Adeline Geik.
