Dorothy Oldenburg

Dorothy Helen Oldenburg, 85, of Sawyer passed away on June 27, 2012 at her home in the care of her family.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 Church Street, Bridgman with Reverend Jon Bendewald officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Visitation will be held Friday from 5 - 8 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Hospice at Home.

Dorothy was born April 30, 1927 in Bridgman, Michigan, the daughter of the late Julius and Emma (Poschke) Gast. She married LeRoy Oldenburg on January 2, 1945 and he preceded her in death on October 17, 2011. Dorothy was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She enjoyed flower gardening and being with her family. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren.

Survivors include her son - David L. (Karen) Oldenburg of Sawyer; grandchildren - David M. “Mick” (Susan) Oldenburg of Sawyer, Thomas (Dawn) Oldenburg of Bridgman, Chad (Sara) Oldenburg of Sawyer, James Oldenburg of Chicago; nine great grandchildren; brothers - Emil (Vesta) Gast of Pennsylvania, Leonard (Linda) Gast of Texas; sisters - Margaret Wolkins of Galien, Dolores Gast of Bridgman and Loretta (Robert) Crowley of Three Oaks.

Dorothy was also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
