Doris Freehling

Doris Marie Freehling, 90 of Eau Claire passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, July 2, 2012 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman with Reverend Gail Miller officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 2-5 PM Sunday, July 1 at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be given to Hospice at Home or the Berrien County Cancer Service.

Doris was born August 1, 1921 in Baroda, Michigan the daughter of the late William and Emma (Wesner) Schlutt. On February 11, 1939, she married Henry A. Freehling and he preceded her in death on September 26, 1978. She graduated from Berrien Springs High School, Class of 1939. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and quilting. There was aways cookies, cakes and pies when you came to visit. Doris was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Eau Claire

Survivors include her children, Mary (Richard) Whitright of Eau Claire, Barbara (Jerry) Likes of Eau Claire, Margaret Churchill of Sellersburg, IN, Nancy White of Bridgman, Hope (Jeff) Sinner of Niles, David (Rebecca) Freehling of Hartford; grandchildren - William (Sally) Davis, Robert (Alyssa) Davis, Steven (Sheri) Davis, James Whitright, Joan (Chris) Doty, Ronda (Michael) Bertrand, Patrick Churchill, Roger (Mindy) Churchill, Kristin White, Michael White, Jason Sinner, Paul Sinner, Jennifer Sinner, April Freehling, Oliva Freehling; 13 great grandchildren; sister - Matilda (W.L.) Jones of Niles; brother - Carl (Norma) Schlutt of Park Forest, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Doris was proceeded in death by her husband, Henry; infant son - James; daughter - Betty Davis; sons-in-law - Ronald Churchill, James White and Walter Davis; great granddaughter Courtney Renea Bertrand; one sister and five brothers.
