Dora and her twin, Dorothy, were born November 26, 1931 in Rushford, NY to Stanley and Ellen (Taylor) Dunlap. She was one of eight children. Dora grew up on dairy farms in Ischua and Hinsdale, NY. She enjoyed singing with her twin sister at church and going to dances as a girl. Dora married Ronald “Ron” Wayne Leonard on February 7, 1948, and together they had four children. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Freedom, NY for over 55 years. Dora was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She and Ron enjoyed snowmobiling together. She would spend her time cooking, baking, crocheting and all that the farm entails. She kept a beautiful garden. Dora would often be heard singing and yodeling while driving “Allis,” one of their tractors, as she raked hay. Her home was warm and welcoming. Her homemade baked bread and rolls will always be remembered as a favorite among anyone who had the pleasure of tasting them. She always had a pot of coffee and homemade dessert to offer the many family and friends that would stop in for a visit. After leaving the farm, she lived with Barb in Michigan, then moved to Florida to be close to Dorothy and then returned to Barb’s where she spent her final years. Dora was a wonderful mother and homemaker and was the best “Gram” any grandchild could ask for. In later years she was given the loving names of Nana and Nina by her great and great great grandchildren. She loved in a big way and you knew she loved you. Dora was loved by everyone who met her and will be greatly missed.

Dora is survived by her daughters, Rhonda D. Leonard of Leicester, NY, Betty S. Leonard of Freedom NY, Barbara S. (Brian) Kunde of Stevensville, MI, and daughter in law Roseann (Ronnie) Leonard of Arcade, NY, brother Thomas Dunlap of Mobile, AL, grandchildren Robert (Tammy) Leonard of New York, Eric (Michelle) Leonard of Washington, Jenny (Phil) Stroh of New York, Melody (Jason) Leonard of New York, Nathan (Kristie) Whitehead of New York, Julie (Garrett) Tucker of Michigan and Daniel (Alexis) Kunde of Nevada, great grandchildren Lindsey, Sydney, Hayden, Garett, Hannah, Bradley, Emma, Logan, Grant, Lian, Sophia, Harrison, Wesley, Arthur, Sawyer, Bridge, and Wallen, great great grandchildren Kyla and Miya and many nieces and nephews.
