Donna Jene Godush, 75, of Bridgman passed away on August 10, 2021 at her home after a yearlong battle with cancer.
A private family graveside service was held at Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion in Bridgman on August 28, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A light lunch will be provided. Donna was born on February 23, 1946 in St. Joseph, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin "Gene" and Madonna (Hunt) Schoenfelder, and her brother Richard “Ricky,” who died in infancy. Donna graduated from Lakeshore High School in 1964 and attended Michigan State University. On October 19, 1968 Donna married Lewis Robert Godush in St Joseph, Michigan. They shared over 52 years of marriage. She was a marriage clerk at the Berrien County Courthouse, a stay-at-home mom, ran a daycare out of her home, and most recently worked as a receptionist at South Shore Women's Health Care for 28 years, where she made many wonderful friends. Donna enjoyed going on cruises, especially to Alaska. She loved the Kentucky Derby, summers up north, reading, going for walks and any dessert with caramel, but above all, she loved her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knew Donna will always remember her beautiful smile and how thoughtful and giving she was.
Donna is survived by her husband, Lewis Godush; children: Perry Godush, Brett (Kimberly) Godush, Amber Godush and Louanne Godush; grandchildren: Madison Godush, Arien Evans, Sophia Godush, Audrey Godush, Alec Topp and Bryn Topp.
