Donald Pierce

Donald Harland Pierce, 85, of 306 Betty Drive, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City, NC.

Mr. Pierce was born September 20, 1931 in Grand Prairie, Texas the son of the late Guy and Ruby (Dowdell) Pierce. He was an award-winning General Contractor in South Florida. On August 13, 1957, he married E. Grace Christopher. Don was a Master Gardener and past President of the Bonsai Society who enjoyed woodworking, Jeopardy and reading.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Grace; a son: Charles (Judy) Pierce of Liverpool, NY; two daughters: Deborah (Glenn) Taft of Royal Palm, FL and Dina (Doug) Hansen of Elizabeth City; grandchildren: Rebecca and Rachel Hansen; Lauren and Michael Taft; great grandson: Brooks Taft; a brother: Kenneth Pierce of New Mexico.

A memorial service will be held later this spring in Michigan. The family will receive visitors on Monday, December 12, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00PM at 109 Lee Circle. As an expression of sympathy memorial contributions may be given to Master Gardener Scholarship Fund; Pasquotank County Extention Services, 1209 McPherson St. Elizabeth City NC 27909.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks, Michigan.
