Danny Suman

Danny Lee Suman, 64, of Holland Township went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 22, 2012 in the care of his family.

A Memorial Service will be held 11 AM Monday, March 26, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Zeeland, 246 W. Main Street, with Pastor Richard Chasse officiating. Friends may meet with the family follow the service at the church for a luncheon and time to share and honor the life of Dan. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to the Mayo Clinic or Hospice of Holland.

Dan was born July 2, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan the son of Robert E. and Irene A. (Cotter) Suman. He graduated from Weidman High School and earned a business degree from Ferris State University, Big Rapids. On January 21, 1972 he married Sandra Lynn Van Maastricht.

Dan had a passion for the sciences, and specialized in plastics, electronics and processes. He applied his skills and knowledge at Van Guard, which was purchased by Gentex Corporation where he spent most of his career. He later owned and operated Lakeside Design and Construction in Hart, Michigan. It was there he worked along side his sons, Mark and Tim for 10 years. Dan enjoyed the outdoors, archery, hunting and fishing. He was a member of CrossRoads Church, Scottville and attended Ridge Point Community Church, Holland.

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sandra; their children - Lisa (Tim) Hill of Zeeland, MI , Steve (Niki) Suman of Douglas, MI, Mark (Amanda) Suman of Hart, MI and Tim (LeeAnn) Suman of Zeeland, MI; his mother - Irene Suman of Lake Isabella, MI; 10 Grandchildren - Joshua, Jordan, Jeremy, Alyssa, Johnathan, Olivia, Alec, Addison, Charlie, Lily; a sister - Jane (Barry) Conley of Lake, MI; two brothers - Mike (MaryJo) Suman of Caledonia, MI and Tom (Mary) Suman of Lake, MI; Sandy’s siblings - Cheryl Komplin, John (Elaine) Van Maastricht and Jim (Elaine) Van Maastricht all of Holland, MI.

Dan was preceded in death by father, Robert Suman in 1996.
