Danney Eugene Brown, 63, of Benton Harbor passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Dan was born on May 25, 1949 in South Haven, the son of James Andrew and Edna Louise Brown. He graduated from Benton Harbor High school in 1967 and shortly after joined the United States Navy, where he served from 1968 to 1970. In 1971 he married Lidia Uricchio. For most of Dan’s life he lived and worked in Anaheim, CA. His lifelong profession was being a respiratory therapist and in 2001 he moved back to this area and took a job at Lakeland Regional Medical center where he worked for several years. Dan also worked in Detroit and Kalamazoo before retiring in 2011.

Throughout his life, he enjoyed traveling, spending time with his son and daughter-in law, watching the LA Kings play hockey, wrestling with his great nieces, and playing bingo with his mother. Dan was also an avid golfer who loved beating his brothers and friends every chance he got. He cherished time spent with his family and was also a member of the Bridgman American Legion.

Dan is survived by his son, Daniel and (Emily) Brown of Portola Hills, CA; two brothers Tom and (Ellen) Brown of Bridgman, MI, Terry Brown and his companion, Trish Hines of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Patricia Polaskey and her companion, Howard Hope of St Joseph, MI; his mother Edna Louise Brown of Benton Harbor, MI; his ex wife, Lidia Brown of Foothill Ranch, CA and many nieces and nephews.

A cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held on January 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Graceland Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made, in his name to the Bridgman American Legion’s Memorial Fund.
