Dale Freehling

Dale Gene Freehling, 69, of Bridgman passed away on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, December 13 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bridgman with Reverend Jon Bendewald officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family from 5-8 PM Monday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church

Dale was born November 29, 1942 in Baroda the son of Adam and Margaret (Sinner) Freehling. On June 15, 1963 he married Karen McPherson. Dale was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a millwright by trade and had worked at Buchanan Metal Forms, Tri-M Mold and Dura Mold in Stevensville. Dale enjoyed fishing, his morning coffee at Eric’s Café in Bridgman and was an avid Detroit Lions and U of M Football fan. Most of all Dale loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Karen; his mother - Margaret Freehling of Buchanan; two sons – Michael (Lora) Freehling of Stevensville and Steven (Jann) Freehling of The Netherlands; a daughter - Marcia (Michael) Kackmeister of Gray, Maine; six grandchildren - Mason, Olivia, Mineva and Lily Freehling, Jacob and Amanda Kackmeister.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Adam Freehling, in 1979; his brother, Kenneth in 2009 and an infant sister.
