Charles Ervin Roth

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Roth, of Stevensville, on August 27, 2023. Charles leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness that touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Charles was born in Saginaw, Michigan on June 28, 1947 to Cathrine and Irvin Roth. He graduated from Vassar High School in 1965 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University in 1969. He found his calling helping people navigate the world of insurance claims, serving the southwest Michigan community for 42 years with AAA.

His passion for his work was rivaled by his love for carpentry, books, and geography. With his loyal canine companions Betsy and Jingles by his side, Charles also found joy in fishing, swimming at the YMCA, and leisurely drives around town.

A true family man, he never failed to surprise his wife of 54 years, Betty, with orchids every Valentine's Day. Charles is survived by his loving wife and children: son Steven and his wife Salene, and their child Ashley; son Mike and his wife Keri, and their children Owen and Ian; and daughter Rebecca and her husband Jaeman, and their children Oliver and Emma. He is also survived by his sister Jean Mills of Vassar, MI, and many nieces and nephews. Charles was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna Gillies.

We invite you to join us in a celebration of Charles's life, at Stevensville United Methodist Church, 5506 Ridge Road. Stevensville, MI 49127 on Saturday, September 2, 2023. Friend may meet with the family for the visitation which will begin at 9:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Luncheon to follow.
