Charles (Chuck) Junior Fillmore, 84, of Covert passed away on March 28, 2011 at Royalton Manor in St. Joseph, MI with his grandson Bill Crowder at his side.
A Memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, April 16th in remembrance of his life. Friends may meet with the family beginning at 1pm at the Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to “Feed the Children Fund”.
Chuck was born November 13, 1926 in Watervliet, MI, the son of the late Charley and Marjorie (Hilts) Fillmore. On April 7, 1961, he married the love of his life Virginia Esther (Tillstrom) Snyder whom he adored and cared for. He was a graduate of the Pioneer Trade School and in addition to various labor jobs, he was a handyman that could build nearly anything. From dog houses to bird houses, he built them from scraps. He loved fishing and welcomed the opportunity to teach his grandchildren and great grandchildren to fish. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and treasured their attention.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Virginia; his stepchildren – Jackie Emhoff of Watervliet, MI; Mary-Lou Blouin of Carson, Washington; Sharyn (Mike) Jackson of Houston, TX; Kathy (Keith) Crowder of Covert; 16 grandchildren and many-many great grandchildren along with several great-great grandchildren; his sister Marjorie Louise (Fillmore) Burrows of Dunn, North Carolina.
Chuck was preceded in death by his stepson Donald Snyder, an infant stepdaughter Sandra Snyder and his two brothers Eugene and Duane Fillmore, both from Watervliet, MI.
