Carol Ann Siewert

Carol Ann Siewert, 86, of Baroda, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Caretel Inns, St. Joseph.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 2673 W. John Beers Rd., Stevensville, MI 49127 with Reverend Jesse Knox officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 10 – 11 AM on Thursday at the church, prior to the service. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Carol was born on March 6, 1937 in Benton Harbor, Michigan the daughter of the late Elmer and Olga (Keana) Alten. She graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, Michigan in 1955 and received a Bachelor of Education from Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. She began her teaching career at Lola Park Lutheran Church School in Red Ford Township, Michigan and taught lower elementary at Lakeshore Public Schools for 25 years. She married the first and only love of her life, Dale A. Siewert, on July 29, 1961 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stevensville, Michigan.

Carol liked to volunteer. For 20 years she was on the Bridgman Library Board, and belonged to St. Paul’s Ladies Aid for many years. She chaired the Baroda Queen Contest and was Blossomtime Chairperson for Blessing of the Blossoms. In 2002 she was named Blossomtime Volunteer of the Year.

Carol enjoyed traveling, knitting and needlepoint. She was also often known as the Hat Lady.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Dale; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol was also preceded in death by her brother and his wife: Frederic J. and JoAnn (Ott) Alten; and a sister-in-law, Geraldine (Siewert) Klug.
