Carol Ann Essig

Carol Ann Essig, 74, of Bridgman passed away unexpectedly at her home on June 25, 2023.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a celebration of life on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Pike Funeral Home and Cremation Services, The Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman.  A private burial service was previously held at Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman.  Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com

Carol was born on April 18, 1949 in Bridgman to father Hilbert Natzke and mother Dorothy (Schuler) Natzke.  On July 13, 1968, Carol married the love of her life, Loren Essig. Together they raised their two sons, Clint and Aran, and were like second parents to many nieces and nephews.  Family meant everything to Carol. She often enjoyed hosting get-togethers at her home, particularly in the garage which became known as “Loren and Carol’s Juke Joint”.  It was named so because of their love of Blues music. Carol enjoyed attending Blues concerts, festivals, dancing the night away, and was always ready for an adventure. She was a very kind, compassionate, and accepting woman who never met a stranger and made everyone feel like family, which is why she had so many friends who loved her dearly.  Another passion of Carol’s was gardening.  She spent hours every day, and often into the evening, tending to her yard and beautiful flowers. Her smile and ability to see the bright side of every rainy day will be truly missed.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Essig, in August of 2021 and an infant brother, Doug Natzke.

Survivors include her two sons: Clint (Melissa) Essig and Aran (Eva Baca) Essig; grandchildren: Lindsay Essig, Logan Essig, and Austin Essig; siblings: Herb (Donna) Natzke, Norb Natzke, Lou (Carol) Natzke, and Marvin (Marge) Natzke.
