Biography

Bertha Emily Cornwell, 90, of St. Joseph passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Woodland Terrace, Bridgman.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Monday, January 10, at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy, Bridgman with Rev. Glenn Rosenbaum officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home Sunday from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Grace Lutheran Church.

Bertha was born August 24, 1920 in Chicago the daughter of the late Ferdinand and Emily (Pechtel) Schultz. On May 1, 2941 she married Paul F. Cornwell and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2009. Bertha was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, St. Joseph.

Survivors include a son - Derry (Kay) Cornwell of Bridgman; two grandchildren – Paul Robert (Ruth) Cornwell of Stevensville and Reegan Lyn (Phil) Albright of Niles; and four great grandchildren – Kaitlin, Kari, PJ, and Paige.

Bertha was preceded in death by three sisters - Claire, Leona “Loan”, Ethel “Ets” and a brother, Dan.
