Bert Leonard Klackle, 85, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Stevensville passed away Tuesday, June 21 at his son David’s home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy. Bridgman, Michigan. Burial will be in Hickory Bluff Cemetery, Stevensville. Friends and family may meet with the immediate family from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening, June 28 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of SWFL, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, Florida 33908, memo: In memory of Bert Klackle.
Bert was born February 22, 1926 in Stevensville, the son of the late Frank and Ida (Vogt) Klackle. On December 28, 1946 he married Betty June Obendorfer and she preceded him in death on October 21, 1994. Bert and Betty were married for 48 years. Bert served in the U.S. Navy as a communication technician during WWII. After his discharge, he was employed by Associates Financial Services for 40 years, retiring in 1987. Upon retiring, Bert and Betty resided at the family farm on Rocky Weed Rd. Stevensville where they raised Christmas trees and blueberries. Bert was an avid fisherman all his life, during his retired years he was also a charter captain of B & B Charters out of Saint Joseph.
Bert is survived by his sons, David Klackle of Estero, Florida, Michael (Nancy) Klackle of Tualatin, Oregon, and Randal (Florence) Klackle of Lisle, Illinois; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister, Evelyn (Charles) Ott of Stevensville, and brother Frank (Betty) Klackle of Tampa, Florida. He was also preceded in death by a great grandson, a great granddaughter, two brothers and one sister.
