Arthur Allen Gnodtke

Arthur Allen Gnodtke, 76, of Sawyer passed Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Corewell Health South, St. Joseph.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5791 Sawyer Road. Sawyer, MI 49125, with Pastor Brandon Wittig, officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 10-11 AM on Saturday at the church, prior to the service. Burial will be in New Troy Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Arthur was born on June 9, 1947 in Sawyer, the son of the late Emil and Blondena (Strefling) Gnodtke. On July 16, 1966 he married Patricia Higgins and they shared 57 years together. Arthur grew up on the family farm, enjoyed working on old tractors and drove truck all over the country. In his younger years, Art had been a volunteer on the Weesaw Township Police and Fire Departments. He also enjoyed baking apple pies, gardening, and selling cars for Ford. Art’s biggest goal in life was making people smile.

Survivors include his wife: Patricia; children: Dana (Bill) Klopp, Arthur (Kelly) Gnodtke, Josh (Elizabeth) Gnodtke, and Whitney Gnodtke; 12 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Sandra Gnodtke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Arthur was also preceded in death by two brothers: Carl and Armand Gnodtke.
