Alice Simpelaar Jensen, 90, of Bridgman, formerly of Midland, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman.
A gathering of family and friends will be held in the summer in Midland. Online condolences accepted at www.PikeFH.com.
Alice was born Monday, April 6, 1931 in Racine, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Clyde and Alice (Bloedel) Simpelaar. On August 11, 1957, she married David James Jensen and he preceded her in death in 2012. Alice loved family visits and relished the time spent with her children and grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews. She and her late husband enjoyed gardening, especially rock gardening, at their home as well as throughout the Midland community. Their involvement with the Midland Antique and Historical Societies spanned more than 30 years and they found happiness in the events they participated in. Alice was active for many years with the AAUW and their annual book sale and embraced the friendships established there. But most of all, quilting brought her joy. She was very gifted with design and ideas and the ability to translate them into fabric and thread.
Survivors include her children: Bradford (Anne) Jensen, Gregory (Marilyn) Jensen, Philip (Carolyn) Jensen, Russell (Charlotte) Jensen, Elizabeth (David) Hozeska; grandchildren: Gordon (Heidi) Jensen, Benjamin (Emily) Jensen, Abigail (Nicholas) Herrman, Lorri (Aaron) Wenger, Melanie Jensen-Worth, Tiffany Jensen; 3 great grandchildren and her identical twin sister: Carol (John) Mathis.
Alice was also preceded in death by her brother: Jan Simpelaar and his twin sister: Edith VanBelleham.
