Alfred Wandel, 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Jordan’s Life Care Center in Bridgman, Michigan.

Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, April 7 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 9650 Church Street, Bridgman. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may meet with the family Tuesday from 5-8 PM at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church Mission Fund.

Mr. Wandel was born July 14, 1922 in Volinia, Germany the son of the late Gottfried and Florentina (Lochwitz) Wandel. On February 26, 1949 he married Elfriede Mojsiejenko and together they shared 61 years. Alfred was a tool and die maker by trade.

Alfred was a long time member and had served on the Board of Elders at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bridgman. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and camping. His greatest passion and pastime was his garden. He was a friend to many and loved by all.

Survivors include his wife, Elfriede; a daughter - Anita Wandel of Benton Harbor, and a son - Richard (Susan) of Bridgman; one grandchild - Steven Wandel of Benton Harbor; and a sister - Adina Lochwitz of Germany.
