Albert Yerke

Albert Henry Yerke, 91, of Bridgman, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 5791 Sawyer Road, Sawyer with the Reverend Randy D. Lett officiating. Friends may meet with the family from 5 - 8 PM Wednesday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Highway, Bridgman. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 247, Sawyer, MI 49125 or Hospice at Home, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI 49085.

Albert was born on July 6, 1923 in Sawyer, Michigan, son of the late August and Otellia (Schmidt) Yerke. On February 17, 1945 he married Freida Marie Craft. Albert worked at Sawyer Farmers Exchange for 37 years, Baroda Hardware, and retired from Premier Tool & Die in Berrien Springs after 20 years.

Albert is survived by his wife of 70 years - Freida; children: Dianne (Eugene) Brenning of Divernon, Il., Deborah (Robert) Gitersonke of Bridgman, Denise (Randall) Klann of Bridgman, Dawn (Michael) Hammer of Bridgman; grandchildren: Jason, Kristin, Matthew, Marc, Michael Jr., Jessica; and nine great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his sister Helen Keller, infant brother Elmer, and grandson Craig Smith.
